Exceptional Engine and Powertrain Specs

2018 Nissan Maxima ExteriorThe new model comes with a 300-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine that is combined with an Xtronic variable automatic transmission (CVT). The engine has good fuel economy and delivers quiet and smooth power to the wheels. The engine was designed with Nissan's D-Step shift logic, which allows the revs to fluctuate when the engine is at full throttle. The Sport mode engine has a different feel because the throttle response, transmission, and steering were all adjusted. The 2018 Maxima has ample horsepower, but it doesn't produce an aggressive torque steer, which is when the steering wheel shakes slightly. The engine can produce 300-horsepower at 6,400 rpm, 261 pounds-per-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm, and has a city/highway fuel economy of 21/30 mpg.
