The Nissan Titan has been completely overhauled. If you thought it was tough-as-nails before, just wait till you learn about the all-new Titan XD! Here are the top points you need to know about the new truck, which is expected to arrive in dealerships at the end of the year.

It’s got a larger wheelbase
The regular-base Titan will be sold alongside an all-new, rough-and-tumble 2016 Titan XD model. XD stole the spotlight at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit; audiences were wowed by its Cummins V-8 diesel engine, muscular styling and news of its 12,000+ pound tow capacity. The Titan XD’s V-8 cranks out 310 horses and 555 pound-feet of torque.

It fills the gap between light- and heavy-duty trucks
Nissan did some research and discovered that many truck buyers are caught between wanting a V-8 diesel, but not wanting to pay a whole lot more for a heavy-duty truck with HD capabilities they don’t necessarily need. Looking at data, Nissan saw a perfect opportunity to give truck shoppers exactly what they wanted. So now the light-duty Titan offers a new model that gets a slight boost in size to accommodate the optional Cummins V-8 we were just talking about above, making it a win-win option for pickup buyers.

It’s got cool features for towing jobs
The 2016 Nissan Titan XD will come fully loaded with a downhill hauling mode, sway control and brake controller. There’s also a handy gooseneck hitch option and backup camera with gridlines.

Stay tuned as more details arise about the all-new Titan XD, as well as the standard and also redesigned next-gen Titan, which is scheduled to arrive a little later than the XD in early 2016.
