What's New for the 2018 Nissan Frontier?

The Nissan Frontier is synonymous with classic styling, good value, and excellent driving dynamics. It stays ahead of most of its competitors in the midsize truck segment thanks to a rugged body-on-frame construction, capable engines, and a wide list of standard and optional features. It also helps that it is the most affordable truck on the market.

For 2018 all Frontier trims get a rearview camera as standard and the base S model expands its set of standard equipment to include cruise control, air conditioning, a 5.0-inch color display with incorporated Siri Eyes Free, and Bluetooth connectivity. A gloss-black grille, semi-gloss black step rails, black badging, 18-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, body-color bumpers, black rear-view mirrors, black door handles, and Midnight Edition floor mats are available in a new Midnight Edition package.

Expansive Trims and Features

Nissan sells the 2018 Frontier in two body styles: the King extended cab or the four-door crew cab. Both styles are available in 5-ft and 6.1-ft bed lengths. The Frontier comes in five trim levels: the base S, the SV, the Desert Runner, the Pro-4X, top-tier SL. The entry-level S offers 15-inch steel wheels, rear privacy glass, cruise control, cloth upholstery, air-conditioning, and steering wheel audio controls as standard. It also comes with a 5-inch central display, hands-free connectivity, a CD player, a rearview camera, a four-speaker sound system, Siri Eyes Free voice command, USB input, and an auxiliary audio jack. An available Work Truck package gives the S trim bed rail caps, rubber floor mats, a spray-in bed liner, and splash guards.

On top of the mentioned features, the SV offers 16-inch alloy wheels, a sliding rear window, satellite radio, and power accessories for the door locks and windows. An available Value Truck package bundles rear parking sensors, a sliding bed extender, fog lights, and a rearview camera. The package further installs dual-zone climate control, a spray-in bed liner, two extra speakers, heated front seats, a Class IV trailer hitch, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. A sunroof is a stand-alone feature in this trim.

Built with serious off-roaders in mind, the FWD-only Pro-4X brings specially tuned shocks, knobby off-road tires, skid plates, and a locking rear differential. Standard equipment includes most items in the SV Value Truck package alongside a 5.8-inch NissanConnect touchscreen, automatic headlights, a first-aid kit, a navigation system, a leather-upholstered steering wheel, voice controls, and satellite radio.

The top-tier SL retains most of the standard and optional features on all lower trims and adds side steps and 18-inch alloy wheels, among other features.

Overperforming Engines
