When most people think of male car buying preferences, certain things probably come to mind, like speedy, exotic cars or flashy, full-sized trucks. However, recent data suggests that, while this might be true to some extent, men also shop for certain vehicle types just as much as women. Read below for details.

A recent study from iSeeCars proves that male and female vehicle shoppers are more alike than one might imagine, especially when choosing family vehicles. According to the company's data, dads don't just want something fast and flashy. They're also drawn to more practical options, specifically minivans and hybrids, which they shop for just as often as women. The study also found that males shop for electric cars twice as much as females and they're two and a half times more likely to consider diesels.

While iSeeCars data breaks down some old stereotypes, it also reveals that several commonly held beliefs about male shoppers are true. For example, men are more likely to purchase sports cars and they show more interest in cars over $45,000, while women tend to look for the best value. Additionally, men and women are pretty different when it comes to selecting vehicle colors. According to iSeeCars' analysis, "Overall men have a stronger preference for red cars than women by 12.3 percent, for orange cars by 11.8 percent and for black cars by 9.6 percent. Women have a stronger preference for silver cars than men by 9.2 percent, brown cars by 9.1 percent and gold cars by 7.3 percent."
