Nissan has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity and Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) to build a brand-new home for a local Dallas veteran, Brenda Lopez. A current Army Reserve member, Lopez served with the 360th Brigade in Iraq back in 2008 and 2009.
Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity has sought out to provide housing, repairs and rehabilitation for deserving men, women and families all across the nation. For this special project, local Dallas-area Habitat for Humanity volunteers, WWP alumni and Nissan employees will grant Lopez’s dream of being a homeowner and the project is expected to be complete this summer.
A recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, Lopez currently works part-time, while going to school at Mountain View Community College and taking care of two preschool-aged children. We’d like to say thank you to Lopez for her service to our country and congratulate her on the new home, which will be located in Oak Cliff Gardens near the Dallas Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Nissan also partnered with Habitat for Humanity and WWP when putting together its “With Dad” Super Bowl ad, which was the No. 1 ranked commercial in YouTube’s AdBlitz survey. Nissan’s home-build project was announced after the Super Bowl partnership and followed a large $1 million donation made to both nonprofits.
