When the 2016 Nissan Altima comes to the Dallas area in late November, it will be even sweeter to look at and sportier with an all-new SR trim that gets larger wheels, a rear spoiler, smoked headlight housings, Daytime Running Lights, fog lights and 12.5 percent improved cornering performance. SR will be available with both the 2.5-liter four-cylinder and muscular 3.5-liter V-6.
The Altima lineup also gets substantial styling updates. Using Nissan’s new Energetic Flow design language, Altima has been transformed in several areas, gaining a more dramatic looking new front fascia with a V-motion grille and new bumper, as well as redesigned headlights. Several rear elements get updates too, including the trunk lid which is entirely new.
In addition to appearance changes, the car’s structure has been strengthened with added steel in several places and its body is lighter in weight. Plus, enhancements have been made to reduce vibration, road noise, and overall quality and durability.
In the cabin, there’s a new “gliding wing” design and new center console, which features a standard color audio display where you can access NissanConnect with Mobile Apps, a USB port with iPod connectivity, the rearview monitor, Siri Eyes Free and other awesome features.
Another important change for Altima is its improved fuel efficiency. It now offers a best-in-class standard highway fuel economy rating of 39 mpg.*
A notable feature that’ll be available on the 2016 Altima in Dallas County is Nissan’s new class-exclusive forward collision warning system, which warns drivers about risks that they can’t necessarily see when looking forward. The system can not only assess the relative distance and velocity of the vehicle right ahead, but can also assess the same aspects of vehicles driving in front of the car directly ahead.
Also in the area of safety, the radar-based Blind Spot Warning system has been added as standard to select trims this year. In addition, several other safety technologies are available as well, such as Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Cruise Control, Forward Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Warning.
The 2016 Altima will be offered in seven models, including the 2.5, 2.5 S, 2.5 SR, 2.5 SV and 2.5 SL, which get the 2.5-liter engine, and the 3.5 SR and 3.5 SL, which get the 3.5-liter engine.
