Nissan Z Racing Concept for Fuji 24-Hour Race Unveiled

Nissan announced that it hoped to achieve a zero-carbon emissions goal by 2050. With that in mind, the automaker unveiled its Nissan Z concept racing cars, the 230 and 244. Both of the cars raced at the ENEOS Super Taikyu Series 2022, which they hosted at the Fuji Speedway on June 4th and June 5th. They designed the 230 to use carbon-neutral fuel (CNF). Meanwhile, the 244 draws power sources from a gasoline engine.

Participation in a 24-hour Race

Both of the concept cars participated in a 24-hour endurance race where Nissan aimed to develop the vehicles more by using the data found on the racetrack. What Nissan learned will see an application to its CNF engine to further the value given from that car and develop it further.

With the ambitious goal of zero-carbon neutrality by 2050, the Japanese automaker hoped to use motorsports to fuel its research efforts on creating better cars. Nissan stands out because they remain the only Japanese automaker that participates in the all-electric ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Participation in a demanding race on this level of challenge will bring about many new learnings.

Nissan and the Z Car

Before the most recent unveiling, Nissan had already unveiled a Z race car for the Super GT Series in Japan. We have seen the Z Car as having a rich history of racing in the United States. Because of its history, we could see this car reaching US dealerships for the 2023 model. The racing program will go beyond Japan.

Making the Sport More Sustainable

Nissan hopes that its efforts in this realm will help the sport to become more sustainable. When looking at its cars, the 230 and the 244, they managed 502 laps around Fuji, which clocks in at around 2,300 km. We see a lot of distance covered in a short time. When they unveiled the two concept cars, they were backed by two different teams.

Conclusion

Everything done with the unveiling of the two Z Cars will go to helping the automaker to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050. We respect this brand because of its noble goals for the environment.
