Nissan Driving

If you've recently experienced shaking of your vehicle while driving, this is something that you shouldn't ignore. Shaking can sometimes be something as simple as a loose bolt or lug nut, but shaking can also indicate that you have something much more severe going on that could compromise your safety. It's a good idea to bring your vehicle into Trophy Nissan if you're experiencing issues.

Engine Concerns

Shaking may occur that is caused by inadequate airflow through your engine and engine air filter. You can avoid this problem by having your air filter changed approximately every 15,000 miles. We can include this into your routine maintenance that we perform on your vehicle periodically. We will also look into how your spark plugs are working. This is a part that lasts as long as 100,000 miles, but shaking can occur if they're not firing properly.

Brake Service Needed

Is shaking occurring when you press down on your brake? You may have some issues that are originating with your brake pads or rotors. Your brake pad life span can vary pretty dramatically depending on your driving style, but your pads are designed to function optimally until about 50,000 miles. If you haven't had them replaced or serviced in that time frame, now may be the time to have us change out your pads.

Wheel Problems

Wheels must be appropriately balanced, tightened, and regularly serviced to prevent shaking or vibrating. We often see problems with bearings, ball joints, and tie rods when something isn't quite right with your wheels. You may experience shaking whenever you hit high speeds, when you turn around a corner or when you're accelerating.

Axles

The front and back wheels on your vehicle are attached through the middle by way of two axles. Your axles can become damaged if you run over something that hits the underside of your car. You can also experience damage if your vehicle experiences an impact with another car. When that axle becomes dented or damaged, shaking is bound to occur.

Tires

It's a good idea to have one of our technicians give your vehicle a once over when it comes to your tires being tightened on all four lug nuts, checking to see if your tires are balanced, and looking into the alignment. It's also essential that your tires have the proper amount of PSI in them to prevent any shaking.

If you would like one of the experienced technicians at Trophy Nissan to look at your vehicle, contact our service department to schedule an appointment. We'd be happy to address any shaking or vibrations that you have had happened recently so you can rest assured that you're safe while driving.
